Tibetan Textiles
In 2016, Ivy Yin traveled to the Tibetan Plateau to capture the nomadic culture and witness how the Tibetan Nomads connect with nature to produce environmentally sustainable and cruelty free textiles. Norlha Textiles designs, produces, and sells yak textiles made by nomads on the Tibetan Plateau, one of the most remote and fragile environments on the planet. The textile industry is one of the largest contributors to global warming and it’s estimated to be a $3 trillion global industry. The apparel industry accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions and remains the second largest industrial polluter, second only to oil.
