Argentina Ecological Assessment
Ivy Yin traveled to the Condor Valley in Northwest Argentina four times between 2016 and 2017 working with scientists from Global Wildlife Conservation in conducting a wildlife assessment in the region. In 2017, while flying the Explorers Club Flag, the expedition team established the W. Henry Hudson Institute of Conservation, conducted an extensive assessment of the area’s flora and fauna, conducted a climate change analysis, and identified 30,000 acres of Mt. Creston and its surrounding grasslands to be protected and designated as a conservation and research preserve.
During each trip we are on horseback for a week traveling through the Preserve and checking trap cameras that we have placed at different elevations to conduct our assessment. We have turned these expeditions into citizen scientist trips where we introduce citizens to science and education in attempt to enhance their experience in nature.
